For anyone who hasn’t already seen it firsthand, Suspension Training is a new category of exercise that develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously. The TRX Suspension Trainer is a highly portable performance training tool that leverages gravity and uses the exerciser’s body weight to support hundreds of exercises for a wide variety of fitness goals. The TRX was initially created by Randy Hetrick, a former elite Navy SEAL and now president of Fitness Anywhere, Inc., which produces suspension training equipment, programs and education for trainers, athletes, the military and fitness facilities. Hetrick developed the TRX while leading Navy SEAL units on deployment in remote locations. With no gyms or conventional fitness environments available, he created the early incarnations out of spare parachute materials, allowing soldiers to train their entire body using a single piece of portable equipment. As Hetrick saw increasing enthusiasm among his friends both in uniform and out, it became clear that this new way of working out was not only for military personnel, but a highly effective training and mainstream fitness solution.
After leaving the SEALS to get his MBA, Hetrick refined his invention into a professional-grade training tool and developed a training system that features hundreds of exercises that can easily be modified for any level of user. Since its introduction to the marketplace in 2005, the TRX Suspension trainer has gained popularity with personal trainers and professional athletes as well as with the military and health clubs across the country.

Helps Clubs Develop Group Fitness Classes and Personal Training Programs
Fitness Anywhere, creators of the TRX Suspension Trainer, are taking it to another level with the Suspension Training Zone – a comprehensive solution that includes equipment, education and marketing materials.
This program offers clubs the ability to offer group fitness classes and personal training programs around Suspension Training that build strength, flexibility, core stability and endurance within an efficient space. In addition, it requires no power access and is a low-maintenance option for group training. Clubs are supported with on-site education and turnkey marketing programs to assist with the launch and ongoing implementation of the program.
“Suspension Training group classes with the TRX are unique, in that participants taking the classes get to receive a certain level of ‘personal training’ in a small group format, which is not typical in a group class setting,” said Vanessa Sweet, program development director for Urban Active.
