The fitness industry has made its way to the orient. A recent article discussed the growth of the industry throughout China in a mere nine years. In 2000 the first health clubs opened, but in nine years the estimated total of health clubs has rocketed to 2,000 to 3,000 clubs.
Previously, Chinese citizens who desired to exercise had to pay outrageous prices to high-end hotels that were only suitable for foreigners and the wealthy Chinese. With the growth in the fitness industry, many seasoned veterans are proclaiming a future of intense growth within the market.
Tomer Rothschild, CEO of Ozone Fitness, told China International Magazine that about 16 percent of Americans are actually enrolled in a club, while only a fraction of China’s population has joined their clubs. The numbers are meant to show the possibility of growth within the particular region. Considering the amount of growth that occurred within the past nine years, the transformation that could be occurring in the near future could provide exciting profits for many industry entrepreneurs.
