Gold’s Gym International (GGI) announced the hiring of Tim Keightley to the newly created position of vice president of fitness. Keightley is an industry veteran who has led the personal training, group exercise and sales operations for some of the biggest fitness companies in the industry. In his new role at GGI, he will lead the company’s personal training and group exercise departments, with a focus on innovation and member experience.
“This move is part of our continued efforts to attract the brightest minds in the industry,” said Jim Snow, the president of Gold’s Gym International. “Tim brings a proven track record of growth and creativity in the areas of personal training and group exercise. He is an incredibly talented fitness professional who will help drive these key offerings for GGI and identify new ways to get our members results.”
Keightley was most recently vice president of sales and business development for Les Mills International. During his time there, Keightley spearheaded the company’s growth and development throughout the continental U.S. This role was a continuation of his strong work in the group exercise field. While working at the international fitness chain, Fitness First, he was responsible for creating the group exercise experience for 240 locations across Europe. This included rolling out core programs such as Body Pump, training group exercise staff and overseeing the ongoing programming of their clubs.
Previous to Les Mills, Keightley was the vice president of fitness and personal training for Town Sports International. While there, he oversaw more than 5,000 employees and helped grow personal training memberships from $40 million to $66 million in just three years. He also spearheaded numerous initiatives, including: an industry leading compensation structure for personal trainers and group exercise employees, a mentorship program for top performers and the establishment of a people-centric culture which enabled group exercise and personal training staff to be recognized for the value of their contributions.
Keightley will be based in Dallas, Texas, at GGI’s worldwide headquarters.
