Fitness Formula Clubs (FFC) has recently partnered with Bright Pink, a Chicago-based, nationally known nonprofit organization that provides education and support to young women who are at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. FFC has teamed up with Bright Pink to be their exclusive training partner for the 2011 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, which takes place Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011.
Members of “Team Bright Pink” will receive a four-month training program at participating Fitness Formula Clubs from some of FFC’s top personal trainers and fitness instructors, including FFC Regional Director Scott Lewandowski, a 33-time marathon veteran.
The partnership came about through Jeff Riney, new regional director who had a prior relationship with Bright Pink. “They are a Chicago-based organization, like FFC, so the fit was a good one,” said Merikay Marzoni, the marketing communications director for Fitness Formula Clubs Corporate.
Team members sign up through Bright Pink and agree to a $1,500 fundraising minimum set by Bright Pink. In turn team members can train with FFC’s Marathon Training program, which includes strength training, Yoga, Pilates, nutrition seminars and injury screenings in addition to weekly runs. Marathon training is regularly offered by FFC who has partnered with races in the past, Marzoni said. The program is set to begin on Monday, June 6.
The majority of people training through “Team Bright Pink” will likely not be members of FFC, Marzoni said.
“We are very excited about working with FFC and hope to have great success together,” said Erin Wagner, Development Manager & Legal Counsel for Bright Pink. “We have a lot of first-time marathon runners, and we know they will be very well-prepared for their first Chicago Marathon come October after training with FFC.”
Money raised for Bright Pink helps the organization support their mission of enlightening and empowering young women to be proactive with their breast and ovarian health. Financial contributions are also tax deductible.
