Total Fitness Clubs raised over $12,000 for Spin For Hope™. The event was held at the Bristol, R.I, location on March 6, 2011, but members from all four clubs were invited to participate.
This is TFC’s fifth year hosting Spin For Hope™ and 43 dedicated Spinners raised $12,832.01 at the three-hour indoor cycling event. All funds raised went to support the American Cancer Society and its mission to eliminate cancer as a major public health threat. Spinners rode either as individuals for the three hours or formed teams and took turns riding.
Each participant was responsible for raising their own funds, either through online donations on their personal Spin For Hope donation page, or by collecting cash or checks made to the American Cancer Society.
“We were blown away by the turnout we had at Spin for Hope this year,” said Laura Jenkins, the program director for Total Fitness Clubs and Spin For Hope participant. “The energy, motivation and determination of the participants and instructors were really above and beyond any of our past events. It’s an indescribable feeling to push your body beyond it’s boundaries in the name of something that is so much bigger than yourself and to truly help in the fight against cancer.”
Total Fitness Clubs was ranked the number one fundraising club in Rhode Island and eighth in New England out of the 47 participating clubs. Jenkins herself raised $2,625.01 and is ranked seventh in New England of participants. Over the last five years, TFC has raised over $70,000.
