Benjamin Anderson, the club manager of Snap Fitness in Westwego, La., has been using Nexersys’ NXS-C model in his club to generate prospect interest. Members get a combination of MMA/boxing-inspired High Intensity Interval Training (‘HIIT’) and intelligent, interactive programming.
We spoke with Anderson to discover exactly how using Nexersys has benefited his club.
Why did you choose Nexersys?
I was excited when I saw the Nexersys! I immediately knew I wanted one for our club. My wife and I caught an ad on TV and she called me over from the kitchen and I said, “What is that?” I immediately wanted to know more about it … I thought to myself, “you can hit it, you can interact with it and you can get a great workout.” It was a moment of inspiration when I realized that this is a revenue source and a platform to enhance our group training.
I’m attracted to innovation and creative ideas and the Nexersys had so many unique features, which created a way to bring automated strike training, cardio and interactive programs and gaming to our members.
How easy was Nexersys to introduce to your members?
Our only delay in getting it sooner was due to renovation plans before the New Year. With good timing and communication from a talented sales team from Nexersys, a little money tinkering on my part and without hesitation, it was immediately added following our renovation plans. The Nexersys model NXS-C stands center stage in our new group training area.
We made a commitment to do this system justice. In planning, we went big. We committed to the largest marketing expense our business has made, including club signage, outside signage, and a six-month billboard contract. In just a few recent weeks, this is where my fitness director, Sammy Cusimano, worked his magic, with a 45-minute whirlwind workout, which is getting a lot of attention from old and new members.
We have added accessory boxing and plyometric training equipment to build a customized, multi-stage workout including Nexersys, heavy bag, combat rope, jump rope, and plyo-box movements.
How is it impacting your member growth?
In the past two months, we have enjoyed showing it off to new prospects and have now included it in our tours as an impressive feature to help make the close. The machine has particularly helped with gaining participation in our Snap Fitness $25,000 National Lose Weight Challenge. We believe Nexersys has contributed to an increase of 8 percent in sales and 19 percent in new members, based on comparative annual reports.
