What’s driving the keyless trend in the health and fitness industry?
Fitness lockers have long used key locks to secure personal belongings. From an operations perspective, replacing lost keys is a common complaint. For members, keys are an unwanted burden, but until today, often a necessary evil as well.
Combination padlocks have been the answer for some facilities, but they too pose inconveniences. For starters, some think of padlocks as an eye-sore. Members sometimes forget to bring their padlocks. And, operators must clear out forgotten lockers on a daily/weekly basis by cutting off locked padlocks. With these issues in mind, it should not be surprising that a growing number of clubs have begun exploring new options.
One innovative approach uses a unique mechanical lock that every club member can use to set a unique, personal three-digit combination. The system is a self-service, low maintenance, and must-have member amenity. Since it comes pre-installed and ready to go, all with no keys, there is little resistance from clubs or their members in implementing a keyless locker program.
User convenience and system security are usually delicately balanced. If something is secure, it typically is not convenient and vice versa. New express locker systems change this paradigm by offering keyless convenience, and security for day-to-day club operations.
