Built from a 50-year-old airport hangar, the $3 million, 70,000-square-foot Hangar Athletic Xchange (HAX) in Southern California was designed as a one-stop neighborhood training center with professional, luxury amenities. Featuring six NCAA regional basketball courts, executive locker rooms, towel service and affordable packages for families, couples, individuals and students, HAX is also the home to various summer basketball camps.
Sport & Health Clubs Receive Financing to Fuel New Expansion Projects
Sport & Health Clubs announced recently that it has received $25 million in financing from Pittsburgh-based PNC Mezzanine Capital and CMS Mezzanine Fund. This will enable the company to restructure senior debt in addition to enhancing its capacity to grow and improve its network of health and fitness clubs throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
Brad Wilkins of Cooper Fitness Center Awarded 4th Annual John McCarthy Institute Merit Scholarship
The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) announced that Brad Wilkins, director of Fitness Management and Development for Cooper Fitness Center in Dallas, Texas, has been named the recipient of the 4th Annual John McCarthy Institute Merit Scholarship. Established in 2006, through donations from industry founders and friends, the annual scholarship provides full tuition and a $500 travel stipend to IHRSA’s Institute for Professional Club Management
SilverSneakers Member Turns 101 & Celebrates at Lifestyle Family Fitness
She didn’t earn the nickname “Amazing Milly” by sitting around at home watching television! Mildred Fisher celebrated her 101st birthday this week, alongside classmates and friends from her SilverSneakers fitness class at the Lifestyle Family Fitness in Largo, Fla. The Healthways SilverSneakers Program is offered to eligible members of Humana. Milly is among the 16,500 members currently enrolled in that program at Lifestyle Family Fitness.
