This is one of the topics that can be found in a sales tip, but I want to talk about it regarding referrals and retention. Think about this — do you think someone would be a member longer if they came by themselves or with a buddy/workout partner? I can personally say that I stay longer at a particular club if I have a workout partner.
I believe people feel more committed when they work out with someone else. They have someone they are accountable to. The excuse of, “I just don’t feel like going” is harder to use on your workout partner. Having a great referral system that allows members to bring in friends and family will not only add to your sales for the month, but it will also add to your retention as well.
This is most important with add-on services such as group training and bootcamp. Statistically members will stay members longer if they have a friend that comes with them.
