Happy Pre-Thanksgiving everyone! And, for all of those outside the U.S., I hope you’re having a wonderful Wednesday!
When the holidays roll around, everyone wants to pipe in on coaching members through the hefty eating season. Over indulgence, as we know, can be gruesome for a member’s diet. However, it is my belief that if you’ve done a good enough job getting them hooked on a proper daily diet and exercise routine, a couple days for a little celebration with food won’t hurt. But, what comes after?
Next week you are going to come across members and clients that spent a lot of time chowing down. If you’re lucky, they only skipped out on their diet on Thursday, but you will probably run across the vast majority that truly indulged throughout the long weekend.
With sporting events and parades on television, the only people that may get exercise are those in the rat race on Friday morning. Starting Monday, you’re going to want to get your members back in the swing of things. However, you don’t want to kill them and push them away from the club.
When you engage your members in their workouts, remember that they have been dormant all weekend. Slowly push them back into the routine, but don’t kill them. Help them begin to shred the weight from Thanksgiving – get them some mild results before Christmas when you start advertising member referrals and see how many more referrals you get this year!
On another note, during this holiday season remember your employees and all those that have helped you become a successful fitness club. From Club Solutions Magazine, we are thankful for our readers that help people become healthier every day and for giving us a great industry to cover. Happy holidays everyone! Don’t eat yourself sick!
