LA Fitness announced its plans to open eight additional LA Fitness health clubs in Florida and Upstate New York. Four clubs will open in the Jacksonville, Fla. area this October. In addition, four other clubs will open in Irondequoit, Buffalo, Henrietta and Clarence, N.Y. in early 2013.
Upon opening, the Jacksonville, Fla. locations will generate approximately 240 new part-time and full-time jobs within the local communities, not including those generated during construction.
“Our expansion into the Jacksonville market is in line with the strong and steady growth we’ve achieved by providing members with the most fitness activities and upscale facilities for their dollars,” said Bill Horner, the senior vice president and chief real estate officer for LA Fitness. “We identified Jacksonville as an underserved market and an opportunity to create welcoming, clean environments with desirable amenities and features, outstanding service, affordability and, most importantly, a positive experience.”
The Upstate New York clubs will feature state-of-the-art facilities and a wide range of amenities such as three-lane lap pools, basketball courts and group fitness classes, featuring Kickbox Cardio and yoga.
“We selected these four new sites because they’re convenient, accessible and have the capacity to accommodate all of the amenities our clubs provide — from swimming pools to basketball courts to large cardio spaces — in a comfortable, welcoming environment,” said Horner. “With the opening of these new clubs, we look forward to offering the residents of Upstate New York a wide variety of exercise options at a great value for the dollar.”
Currently, LA Fitness has over 500 locations spanning across 22 states in the U.S. and Canada.
