James Buffington, the fitness and personal training manager of Sawmill Athletic Club in Cols, Ohio, recognized the value of these pieces of equipment, and placed them within his club. He spoke with Club Solutions about why the investment has been worth it.
CS: Can you give us some background on your club?
JB: Premier at Sawmill Athletic Club and its sister clubs, Kinsale Golf and Fitness and Scioto Reserve Golf and Athletic Club, make up the Marque Club Group in Columbus, Ohio and surrounding areas. The clubs boast over 8,000 members and we, Premier at Sawmill, are consistently voted the top club through 614 Magazine.
CS: How were you introduced to TRUE Fitness?
JB: We recently had the need for and invested in 14 new treadmills and several recumbent bikes with TRUE, here at Premier, as well as several ellipticals in our Kinsale Country Club location. Our goals were to improve and upgrade our cardio equipment and technology options, while taking into account user needs and overall customer satisfaction. We decided to put the products to the test and TRUE got more positive comment cards than three other competing manufacturers, while it was on the floor as a demo to our members.
CS: What’s it been like to work with TRUE Fitness?
JB: I also had some experience in the past with TRUE, as I sold commercial equipment and TRUE was one of the brands I sold. I loved them then and I love them now. I was excited to get them into our club, as they are not the cheapest treadmills on the market. However, their machines are sleek, easy to use and offer all of the technology you could ask for. In our club, it was also important to have treadmills that not only offer great quality and a warranty to back it up, but specific features important to our club and members. For example, a small footprint and lower deck height on the treadmills and the step-through entry design and reclining seat features on the bikes for our older and larger members. In addition, the pure quality and established brand name for our advanced exercisers and runners.
CS: How has True Fitness helped you and your business?
JB: TRUE has definitely added a unique point of difference to our club and we look forward to many years with our current purchase, as well as continued business and service in the future.
