The Bay Club Company (formerly Western Athletic Clubs) has acquired BreakAway Performance, San Francisco’s one-stop shop for intensive multisport training. As a result of the acquisition, BreakAway’s performance-based model will be combined with the Bay Club’s premier locations.
The first BreakAway Performance Pro Lab is now open at The Bay Club San Francisco at 150 Greenwich Street. The San Francisco launch was celebrated with a grand opening party and open house featuring demo training and workshops with BreakAway Performance’s retail partners.
The Bay Club’s first BreakAway Performance Pro Lab features diagnostics equipment for VO2 Max testing, video analysis and a 3D image-capturing bike-fitting station. Also furnished in the new facility is a full-service bike shop with an onsite bike technician for custom bike builds, and a high-tech Performance Cycling Studio featuring Computrainer™ power-based training.
The acquisition will allow for higher-caliber training for athletes looking to compete in marathons, triathlons and other sporting events.
“Training of this caliber can be difficult to acquire,” said Jennifer Beaton, the vice president for The Bay Club Company, in a news release. “By building our own Pro Lab and adding BreakAway’s expertise and training protocols, we’re able to make this type of service much more accessible, affordable and convenient.”
