On September 16, 2016, Life Fitness founder Augie Nieto and his wife Lynne visited the Life Fitness factory in Franklin Park, Illinois.
Augie was diagnosed with ASL (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) in 2005, making travel difficult. As a result, according to a Life Fitness representative, the visit was a special event for Life Fitness, as it was the first time in many years Augie had been able to visit.
Augie was greeted by Life Fitness employees and Life Fitness president, Chris Clawson, who hosted Augie and Lynne for the day.
Life Fitness continues to give back and honor Augie as the company’s co-founder through an alliance with Augie’s Quest, a fundraising and awareness initiative through the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s (MDA) ALS division. Since 2006, Augie’s Quest has raised almost $40 million in their fight against ALS, and Life Fitness is a proud supporter of the cause.
