Mountainside Fitness has announced the planned opening of four additional locations in Arizona. Three will open in 2020, and a fourth in 2021.
“It’s a big and exciting step to open four new locations, but we couldn’t be happier to be able to serve more people in the Valley,” said Tom Hatten, the CEO and founder of Mountainside Fitness, in a statement. “We want people to be happy, fit and grow closer as a community. We continually strive to add more value to our experience.”
Of the four new locations, the gyms in Paradise Valley, Avondale and Eastmark in Mesa will open in 2020, while the Estrella Mountain location will open in 2021.
In August 2019, Mountainside Fitness received a 25% preferred stock investment from PNC Mezzanine Capital to complete a minority recapitalization of the company, allowing it to pursue expansion.
“This investment allows for more flexibility,” Hatten told Club Solutions Magazine in August. “I think you’ll see us look for opportunities to purchase other club chains, expand either within Arizona or outside of Arizona, and we’ll also have some other horizontal components that we really want to get into. It gives us some flexibility to do all of those things, without having to just rely on our balance sheet, so to speak, which is great.”
Mountainside Fitness currently boasts 17 clubs in Arizona, and will have 21 once the four additional locations are completed. The fitness brand is Arizona’s largest privately-owned health club chain.
