UFC GYM® has announced the official opening of a new location, UFC GYM BJ Penn Hawaii, located in the city of Honolulu. Specializing in mixed martial arts, the gym opened its doors to members on Monday, May 21st. The 37,000-square-foot facility is the first signature club created in partnership with BJ Penn, a Hawaii native and two-division UFC champion. The new location is the fifth UFC Gym, with additional facilities located in Concord, Rosemead, Corona and Torrance, Calif.
“I’ve always dreamed of putting my name on a gym in my homeland of Hawaii and I’m so grateful that I finally have the opportunity to do so with my partners at UFC GYM,” said Penn, a native of Hilo, Hawaii. “My new signature gym is not a traditional health club or just a fight club, but it offers all the tools you and your family needs to get results. UFC GYM BJ Penn is truly the future of fitness!”
The Honolulu location was made possible by collaboration between Penn, the founders of New Evolution Ventures, Mark Mastrov and Jim Rowley and the owners of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Frank Fertitta, Lorenzo Fertitta and Dana White.
“The ultimate flattery is seeing other fitness clubs try and imitate the innovation we have brought to the fitness industry, but a few speed bags cannot compete with the environment that our team has created,” said Adam Sedlack, the senior vice president of UFC GYM. “The difference is that our ‘train different’ philosophy is in our DNA and has proven to deliver incredible fitness results while empowering skills.”
Along with traditional amenities such as high-tech cardio equipment, weight machines, a grappling room, Group X and TRX® Suspension Training, the club will host multiple youth programs such as youth fitness classes, active fitness gaming and youth mixed martial arts.
