Sport&Health partnered with the National Park Foundation and participated in the 2011 White House Easter Egg Roll on April, 25, 2011. Sport&Health was selected to perform and lead a Zumba class on the lawn.
The First Family hosted 30,000 people from all 50 states in their backyard for the 133rd White House Easter Egg Roll. This year’s theme “Get Up and Go!” focused on promoting health and wellness, a central part of the First Lady’s “Let’s Move!” initiative to raise a healthier generation of kids.
“Based on shared interests — the Obama Administration’s “Let’s Move” anti-obesity initiative — Sport&Health was selected to lead a fun fitness class on the south lawn of the White House during this year’s Annual Easter Egg Roll,” said Mark Fisher, the CEO of Sport&Health.
A lot of thought and discussion between Sport&Health and event organizers went into how to provide the “right” fitness class, they were looking for some to enthuse crowds and still be applicable to young participants. It was mutually agreed upon that Zumba would serve as a contagiously fun event for guests of all ages, Fisher said.
Sport&Health has been talking with the White House, Department of Education and the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition specifically to assist in endeavors aimed at decreasing childhood obesity.
