Club Members need a Social Connection…and Smoothies

Gym members today are looking to make a social connection at their health club. A smoothie bar can provide a great social arena to make the connection! It also offers the club owner another excellent revenue source and an added amenity for club members. For a good juice bar or café to succeed, it must be given the time and attention it deserves.

Many successful operators incorporate the juice bar into their club’s tour. Simply offer the guest a complimentary smoothie to drink while they are touring the club. With the average cost of $1.27 for a 16oz. smoothie, it is a small price to pay to win a new customer. Plus, the club employee’s energy and enthusiasm while engaging the prospective member, along with the free smoothie, can aid in securing another new sale..

Tips to Increase Sales at your Juice Bar:

• Sample, sample, sample!! Sampling works!

• Offer a frequent buyers program – “Buy 10 Get 1 Free.”

• Increase the amount of purchase with add-ons.

• Promote the benefits of drinking a protein smoothie after workouts.

• Enhance employee compensation programs for juice bar sales.

• Encourage members and guests to spread the word for you. If they are impressed with your product and service, they are likely to tell their friends.

• Make small, laminated cards reminding members about the smoothies, and attach the cards to cardio equipment, or place them in other high-volume areas.

• Consider a direct mailer for persons within a five-mile radius of your club to let them know that your juice bar is open to the public.

Tips for Success:

• Remember that the success of your juice bar depends on building sales…Just opening the doors every day doesn’t work! Sales take consistent energy and effort.

• Planning and implementing weekly or monthly marketing helps keep your sales consistent, without experiencing big peaks and dips.

• Sampling plays a large role in getting members to purchase smoothies on a regular basis.

Remember, specialized attention toward promoting your juice bar can make a world of difference in your smoothie sales!
