Anytime Fitness continues to accelerate its international expansion with the opening of its first club in the Benelux region (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) in Susteren, Netherlands.
Susteren opens its doors a year after a master franchise agreement was signed to bring the Anytime Fitness concept to the Benelux region — a plan that aims to open as many as 150 clubs over the next 10 years.
“It’s been my dream to make healthy lifestyles more affordable and accessible for people in the Benelux, and we’re off to a great start in Susteren,” said master franchisee, Petro Hameleers. “By strategically placing clubs closer to where people live and work, we’re eliminating any barriers that could prevent our members from working out. And, being open 24/7 provides added convenience.”
If Susteren is any indication, Anytime Fitness is poised to do very well in the Benelux markets. In its pre-sale, Susteren signed up 154 members, and now averages 15-25 new members every week. Gulpen’s pre-sale is currently underway, on pace to sign up 150 members, and scheduled to officially open at the end of August. The third club to open in the Netherlands will be in Landgraaf, slated for an October opening.
“In a highly competitive, densely populated region, we’re confident that the simplicity and convenience of Anytime Fitness will not only appeal to, but meet the needs of Dutch consumers” said John Kersh, the vice president of international development for Anytime Fitness.
Similar to Anytime Fitness clubs in the United States, the gyms in the Benelux will feature a wide variety of cardio equipment and strength training machines; and offer tanning and personal training packages.
