LA Fitness has reached 200 Pilates by LA Fitness studios across its club portfolio, marking a significant expansion of the company’s strategy to bring boutique-style programming into its traditional health club environment.
The company launched Pilates by LA Fitness approximately two and a half years ago and has since expanded across 16 states and Canada.
Rather than operating Pilates as a standalone studio, LA Fitness has incorporated dedicated Pilates spaces into its clubs, allowing members to access the programming alongside the company’s existing offerings.
Pilates by LA Fitness uses Balanced Body Reformers for full-body classes that combine contemporary Pilates principles with athletic and functional movement. The programming is designed for a range of fitness levels, with an emphasis on strength, mobility, balance and flexibility.
“We’ve created a lot of excitement in our clubs by adding 200 Pilates by LA Fitness studios,” said Jill Hill, the president of club operations at Fitness International, the parent company of LA Fitness, in a press release. “It’s been rewarding to see the incredible response from our members. Our goal was to offer a welcoming Pilates experience that delivers real results and still keep the other fitness and recovery options convenient.”
This news amplifies the trend of HVLP and mid-tier clubs increasingly adding reformer Pilates as an amenity. In June, EōS announced a plan to roll out reformer Pilates in three pilot locations.
Crunch Fitness also announced the launch of Crunch Reform Pilates across 20 locations nationwide, with VASA Fitness and Amped Fitness making similar announcements as well.
