By now you and every other health club owner, general manager or fitness director has been made aware of the “vibration” buzz. This new technology (to us in the U.S.), is truly sweeping across the fitness industry. But, how much do you really know about vibration exercise and its benefits?
Vibration fitness and therapy is taking conditioning and rehabilitation to new levels. Trainers and medical personnel are reporting that vibration exercise and rehabilitation protocols are increasing metabolism; increasing bone density, and strengthening competitive athletes.
Vibration training recruits both the neurological and the muscular systems and can help with muscular re-education and balance training. Competitive athletes are finding that just a few minutes of vibration training can give them a huge edge. Rehabilitation patients are experiencing quicker recovery, and many are experiencing a drug-free relief of pain.
As a health club owner or trainer, you’ll find that a low-impact program on vibration will encourage people who are unsteady or overweight to actually do the exercises, and have them looking forward to the exercise, too.
Vibration exercise can be performed either statically or dynamically. During our daily activities, we use our bodies, and many of our muscles, dynamically. Dynamic exercises are more effective, and the movement is closer to the normal use of muscles. It’s recommended that the first vibration training sessions begin with static exercises in order to practice proper technique. After that by performing the same exercise dynamically, the effect will increase greatly.
Duration is also important. It’s recommended that the training, while on vibration be limited to just a small portion of each training session. This means an individual can achieve every fitness goal (such as muscle strength, flexibility, coordination, and endurance) in as little as 12 to 15 minutes of each training session.
Don’t be the last fitness facility in your competitive market to implement vibration training. You’ll miss out on additional revenue streams but more importantly, you will miss the opportunity to truly help your club members to achieve their intended results. Become the real health and fitness solution in your community.
