When Matt Steiger opened Impact Health and Fitness over the summer he hoped to change the outlook of the fitness industry. He purchased the former Legends Fitness Center in Tallahassee, Fla. and made changes to the 28,000 square foot space. He painted, changed the carpet and replaced old equipment to give the space a major facelift.
Steiger’s main concern from day one was his members. He knew that the change would cause people to be skeptical. He held a town hall-style meeting where he took input from all the different members. He told them about ideas he had for the renovated club and how he wanted to make their experience the best it could be.
“Our goal is simple on paper, but difficult to execute,” Steiger said on the Impact Health and Fitness Web site. “What I want our members to say is ‘Wow that was different.’ I want our members to push us to constantly deliver value. We are striving to create a ‘third place’ for our members.”
