The fitness chain Urban Active will start expanding its presence into new and existing markets throughout 2010. The newest market in Pittsburgh, Pa. will see the opening of Urban Active’s 33rd club, which will open on June 14. The club will be positioned in an up-and-coming area of Pittsburgh being referred to as Bakers Square.
On Sept. 1, Urban Active plans to open its 34th club in Charlotte, N.C., which will be the first club in that market as well.
The Urban Active will be located at 12325 Copper Way, Charlotte, N.C. and will represent the 42,000-square-foot model. The club will have three floors and will be a full-amenity health club.
Two weeks after opening the Charlotte club, Urban Active will open its 35th location in Columbus, Ohio. The Columbus location at Grandview will mark the seventh club in Columbus and will have the same prototype as the Charlotte location.
“We are proud to be serving the communities of both current and new markets by building the best health clubs possible to impact the lives of as many people as possible,” said Royce Pulliam, the CEO of Global Fitness Holdings/Urban Active. “New Markets will be added and our current markets expanded when opportunities present themselves.”
