What’s your first thought when one of your loyal members comes into pay for another membership? “Thank goodness we needed that cash this month” might be one of them, or “Wow I can’t believe they renewed again.” If these are your thoughts, we need to change your thought process.
These faithful members should be rewarded for renewing their membership. Rather than just a thank you for renewing, let’s give these members some bonuses. What if you gave every renewal a $50 or $100 gift card that could be used toward any service in the club such as personal training or bootcamp classes? You have just done two things: you have rewarded your member for their renewal, and have given yourself an opportunity to sell them additional services in the future.
Don’t be afraid to reward your members. It will be like Christmas at their renewal time every year —wondering what they will get this year for renewing. The more years someone belongs to your club, throw in better incentives. Members love free stuff!
