You may have heard about the effectiveness of quarterly personal training with a membership, but what if you added a monthly personal training session at the point of sale for an extra 10 bucks per month? Now, you may be thinking, I will lose money on this. But I can assure you you will not lose money on this membership option.
Let’s say we sell 20 memberships with the $10 add on. Statistically, only 30 percent of those people that paid the extra $10 per month are going to utilize their session. The next question might be “what do I pay the trainer?” You pay the trainer $10 for every session that is taken advantage of. This may not seem like a lot, but this is just a 30-minute session. Then this gives your training department another touch each month to upsell or cross-sell into other programs.

I’ve been doing this for over year already and it’s helped to increase my monthly draft by over 190%, plus increased my member retention. I do it a bit different and we also contact every member that purchased the upgrade by the 15th of the month, if they haven’t scheduled their session. We are here to help people get RESULTS from their fitness program, not just sell memberships at a low price and hope they all never show up.
Nick,
Do you charge more than $10 per month for yours
