How involved are your trainers in your buying? What I’ve heard from major club owners with successful personal training departments has been them leaning on training departments for insights into purchasing quality equipment.
When Apple releases a new software upgrade, I’m asked if it is something we may need. When new design software is release, I’m consulted on whether it would be beneficial to our business. This isn’t because my publisher and president don’t understand the benefits of new software, but they know that I use it regularly and can see its benefits to our company and employees.
As an owner, if you don’t train clients, your trainers may have a more in-depth understanding of how members and clients are using the equipment. They will understand the desires and needs of products. Additionally, they communicate on a regular basis with members and hear about struggles they’ve experienced within the club. All of this information can be crucial to the growth of your business.
Personal trainers are a vital resource to your business, both from a revenue-generating position and a retention tool. Clubs that utilize the knowledge of their trainers can better equip the clubs with equipment that will be used by members and personal training clients on a regular basis.
In what ways does your club use its trainers to better understand your members? Do you receive input from your trainers on equipment they would like to see in the club? How else do you use your training department to grasp a greater understanding of your club?
