Retro Fitness in Wayne, N.J. is giving its members a unique opportunity — the opportunity to participate in a 10-week fitness challenge that will place the winning member on the cover of nj IRON Magazine, a local fitness publication.
The challenge will begin January 22 and end March 25. The winner will be picked based on the highest body fat percentage lost, and he or she will be featured in the May edition of nj IRON Magazine. In addition, the winner will receive five free personal training sessions, 20 percent off additional personal training sessions and a Retro Fitness gift bundle.
According to Michael Foti Jr., the general manager of Retro Fitness Wayne, the goal of the challenge is to enact lifestyle change in participating members — not just a quick, weight loss fix. “We’re attacking every part of what it takes to be healthy and fit,” said Foti Jr. “We’re thinking it’s going to be a real lifestyle challenge for the members who participate.”
Members who participate will keep a food journal, have one personal training session and weigh-in per week, and receive education on nutrition and fitness from their personal trainers and nj IRON Magazine. “The personal trainers will really become their fitness sponsors,” said Foti Jr. “They will provide recommendations, and monitor their progress.”
Foti Jr. partnered with nj IRON Magazine for the challenge, in order to help facilitate the lifestyle-changing process. According to Foti Jr., nj IRON’s fitness expertise will help members achieve their goals, as the magazine will post blogs on weight loss and workout tips on its website during the course of the challenge. “By partnering with nj IRON, we have the backing of a third-party expert on health and fitness,” explained Foti Jr.
Retro Fitness Wayne will host a launch party for the challenge on January 21, and the challenge will conclude with a celebration 5K. “We want to position our gym as a leader of fitness in the area, and the place where exercise is happing,” continued Foti Jr. “We want to let people know that anything they want to accomplish in fitness, they can accomplish here.”
