NASM Launches New Training Curriculums

The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), a certifying body and education authority for certified personal trainers, announced that it has launched 16 new personal training curriculums, including five distinct learning options, for its Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) program.

Each new package provides students with the same quality education backed by scientific findings, however now affording more flexibility and choices in how students earn certifications.

In addition to the CPT program, NASM offers three new options for some of its top-rated specialty credentials – Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) and Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES).

“We recognize that students need different levels of support and flexibility throughout the learning process,” said Andrew Wyant, the president of NASM. “Some students need guidance and tangible resources, while others succeed simply by studying on their own, at their own pace. By presenting greater options, it eliminates some of the biggest obstacles, and students are able to pass the CPT exam and move on to successful careers.”

Addressing the different types of learning styles, the new Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) packages include the following:

  • CPT Exam – Developed for students who may already have purchased study materials and are just looking to take the CPT exam.
  • CPT Self-Study – Allows students to study on their own, while providing certain study tools including a flashcard bundle, online course and case studies, textbook and the CPT exam.
  • CPT Self-Study with Live Workshop – In addition to the study tools available as part of the Self-Study package, students can also opt to attend a live workshop.
  • CPT Online Classroom – Offers students the opportunity to take an online, instructor-led, nine-week exam prep course prior to taking the CPT certification exam. This package also includes the study tools from the Self-Study bundle.
  • CPT All Access with Job Guarantee – A first-of-its-kind, the All Access program includes all of the resources featured in the aforementioned packages and a 90-day job guarantee. Upon completion and passing of the CPT exam, students are guided by industry professionals and are guaranteed placement in a job as a Certified Personal Trainer.
