In honor of Mother’s Day, Planet Fitness announced that the company and participating franchisees are sponsoring the brand’s fourth-annual Mother’s Day promotion, in order to raise money for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF), a not-for-profit organization committed to funding scientific research to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer.
From May 8-15, 2013, 100 percent of enrollment fees ($10 per signup) will be donated to BCRF. Over the past three years, Planet Fitness has donated more than $1 million to BCRF, and the company and its franchisees this year hope to surpass previous years’ donations.
“First and foremost, Planet Fitness corporate and its franchisees are really committed to giving back the communities in which we operate,” said McCall Gosselin, the director of public relations for Planet Fitness. “We feel that The Breast Cancer Research Foundation supports a very worthy cause, one that affects a significant number of women. Mother’s Day seemed to be a perfect time to support this cause.”
In addition, Planet Fitness is hosting a special “Mom Nom,” sweepstakes to find “The Best Mom on the Planet.” From May 8-15, Planet Fitness’ members have the opportunity to enter a mom of their choice at www.PlanetFitness.com/MomNoms. The winner will be randomly selected to win a year membership for themselves, and the mother they nominated.
A significant number of Planet Fitness’ 653 locations are supporting the cause, and staff are wearing pink t-shirts in order to show their support.
“Almost everyone has a mother, daughter, sister who is affected by breast cancer, or even might be struggling with it themselves,” said Gosselin. “The cause is near and dear to many people’s hearts.”
