Orangetheory Fitness is expanding in Beantown, after signing a developmental contract that will bring several new locations to the Boston area. The franchise, which revolves around heart-rate-monitored training for scientifically proven results, is rapidly expanding across the U.S., recently opening its 165th franchise.
Andrew Bishins, the area developer for Orangetheory Fitness in Boston, took some time to answer questions about the colorful franchise’s expansion into Boston and across the nation.
CS: Why did Orangetheory Fitness think Boston was a good area to expand into?
AB: Our growth across the country has exploded in 2013, including new and existing regions. We want to be in the top metro areas in the U.S., so as we expand Orangetheory’s footprint in the Northeast, Boston is a natural progression.
My wife and I have been fitness devotees our entire lives, and we were intrigued by Orangetheory Fitness and it’s amazing, efficient workout. Boston is an extremely vibrant and active town with many fitness enthusiasts. The energy, intensity and influence from major events like the Boston Marathon, the Head of the Charles and the beautiful outdoor seasonal climate, contribute to a physically fit population who will benefit from what Orangetheory Fitness has to offer. The camaraderie of a group exercise studio will fit well in the Northeast.
CS: How will Orangetheory Fitness serve the residents of Boston?
AB: Orangetheory Fitness offers the best one-hour workout in the country in a convenient, boutique setting — it’s unlike anything else. We’re going to give Bostonians visible results, but more than that, when you come to Orangetheory, you’re part of something transformational. You get personalized training in a group setting — the energy, the motivation, the best trainers — it’s like family and people love it. Boston is going to love it.
CS: Why do you think Orangetheory Fitness can compete with other Boston fitness companies?
AB: Again, it comes down to the uniqueness of the Orangetheory Fitness concept. No one else offers this type of motivational group training with proven results at a reasonable price. Our high-intensity training is split into intervals of cardio and strength, backed by science, and we’re the first to use heart rate monitors to personalize the experience. In a 60-minute session with Orangetheory Fitness, participants burn an average of up to 500 to 1000 calories, and continue to burn extra calories for up to 36 hours after the workout. The results are amazing, our locations are convenient and the experience is motivating.
CS: How does it feel to know that Orangetheory Fitness has grown from one to 165 franchises?
AB: It feels great! Being part of a movement like Orangetheory Fitness, something that’s changing the fitness industry and helping people transform their bodies and maintain a healthy lifestyle — that’s very exciting.
