Cooper Fitness Center in Dallas, Texas, has a foundation of more than four decades of health and fitness as a Cooper Aerobics company. Thanks to $7.5 million in recent upgrades, members will be better equipped to develop their fitness at the state-of-the-art facility.
Renovations began in 2012 and were completed in January 2014. Major additions to the Cooper Fitness Center included the Cooper Spa, The Coop retail boutique and a Cedars Woodfire Grill restaurant, open to both members and the public.
“We have made an investment in the future of fitness, where members will find a personal program that fits their interests, lifestyle and schedule,” said Tyler Cooper, the CEO of Cooper Aerobics Enterprises, in a statement. “From personal training to energetic group exercise, to fun and fit youth programs, we offer activities for the entire family in a beautiful, open and inspiring new setting.”
The center was expanded to include a new entrance, updated indoor cycling studio, mind-body studio and private Pilates studio. Renovations continued into the locker rooms, providing members access to custom lockers, Italian tile, whirlpools, saunas and steam rooms.
In addition, members can now enjoy access to Precor cardio equipment with Preva Networked Fitness consoles, a three-lane indoor track, basketball court and a variety of pools. Cooper Fitness Center also features the latest TechnoGym and Cybex strength training equipment and PowerPlate vibration training equipment.
Cooper Fitness Center’s renovation partners included Beck Group as the general contractor, Hudson Lockett as the architect and lauckgroup as the interior designer.
“A lot has changed over the years, but one thing has not, and that’s the Cooper Aerobics’ commitment to healthy living,” said Roger Staubach, a Cooper Fitness Center member and NFL Hall of Famer who sits on Cooper’s board of trustees, in a statement. “Dallas is honored to have Dr. Cooper, the ‘Father of Aerobics’ — who revolutionized fitness and developed the ultimate health and wellness resource — right here in our backyard.”
Troy Aikman, also a Cooper Fitness Center member and NFL Hall of Fame quarterback, was on-hand for the opening.
