9Round announced the company has opened nearly 100 locations since the start of 2013.
In the five years since launching the franchise, 9Round has expanded its national footprint to include 130 locations in 36 states — exactly 94 of which have opened since the beginning of 2013.
With an additional 100 locations already in various stages of development, 9Round expects to open 40 new clubs by the end of 2014 and have a total of 1,000 locations open and operating by 2018.
“Consumers are becoming more aware and ambitious with their fitness levels and are looking for real fitness programs and not just access to fitness equipment,” said Shannon Hudson, the founder of 9Round, in a press release. “There is something empowering about kickboxing — it is the sense of empowerment that appeals to most people. This unique fitness proposition, coupled with our rapid growth, are two of the key differentiators that make us stand out from the competition and will, no doubt, catapult and keep us atop the market.”
Taking its cue from boxing and kickboxing, 9Round moves members through a nine-stage workout that delivers total -body results in a quick 30-minute workout. Each of the nine stations is different — from learning how to jump rope to hitting the speed bag. There are no class times, trainers are always on site, and routines change daily, giving members a fresh workout every time they come in.
“Everything is full body,” Hudson continued. “At one station members might do 20 front kicks and 20 push-ups in three minutes. The next day, they might do 20 hooks and 10 jump squats at that station. We bring these things to the average person, so they feel like a real fighter, like they’re doing something Muhammad Ali would have done.”
