The following is a short story that’s a part of our “Gym Horror Stories” series to celebrate Halloween. Each day this week, visit ClubSolutionsMagazine.com for a new tale from the gym.
During a typical California summer day, the temperature rose well above 100 degrees. The AC and the fans in the building were just able to do their job of cooling off the facility.
The most popular indoor cycling class had just let out. Thirty dripping wet people exited the cycling studio. Puddles of sweat surrounded every bike and the mirrors were fogged from the human-caused humidity.
Our fearless staff entered the steamy studio to clean the floors and wipe down all of the bikes and found that there were two seat covers that had been forgotten by some riders. After peeling the sopping covers from the bikes, they carried them (barely dangling by two fingers) down to the lost and found bins at the front desk.
Only a few minutes later, one lady approached the desk and asked if her seat cover had been returned. The front desk staff embarrassedly lifted the rubber bin that held both of the identical covers (which were each still steaming).
The member reached into the bucket and grabbed the first cover, held it to her nose, took a deep whiff and let out a sigh. She then reached into the bin for the other cover, held it to her nose and again took a big deep whiff. Trying not to gag, the front desk staff looked at her with shock and waited for someone to say something. The lady held up the first cover and proudly announced, “Yep, this one is mine.”
