Although it’s only Wednesday, this week has been a big one for the health and fitness industry. On Tuesday, Genesis Health Clubs announced it had acquired 19 clubs from 24 Hour Fitness, and today, Gold’s Gym announced it too had acquired gyms from 24 Hour Fitness, in the amount of six locations.

Genesis Purchases 19 Clubs From 24 Hour Fitness
Genesis Health Clubs has purchased 19 clubs from 24 Hour Fitness for an undisclosed amount. With these additions, Genesis is now one of the largest health club companies in the Mid West. The change-over took effect on June 15, 2016.
As part of the transaction with 24 Hour Fitness, Genesis purchased eight clubs in the Kansas City metro area, five in the Omaha metro area, four in St. Louis and two in Oklahoma City.
Gold’s Gym Purchases Six Clubs from 24 Hour Fitness
Gold’s Gym has acquired all of the 24 Hour Fitness locations throughout the St. Louis and Oklahoma City metro areas. As part of the deal, the six 24 Hour Fitness locations will be rebranded under the Gold’s Gym name.
As a result, Gold’s Gym will have 10 locations in Oklahoma City and 11 locations in St. Louis.
Nuffield Health Acquires 35 Sites from Virgin Active
Nuffield Health, one of the UK’s leading not-for-profit healthcare organizations, announced that it will acquire 35 gym sites from Virgin Active. According to Nuffield, the transaction has been approved by both parties and is expected to complete in the third quarter of 2016.
With this transaction, Nuffield Health boosts the number of health and wellbeing gym sites to 112. As a result, Nuffield Health is now a leading provider in the consumer health and wellbeing market and allows it to offer both fitness and a range of clinical services to even more individuals in the UK in line with its charitable purpose.
Johnson Health Tech Purchases Leisure Fitness
Johnson Health Tech (JHT), one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing fitness equipment manufacturers, and producer of the brands Matrix, Vision, and Horizon, announced that it has signed an agreement to purchase Leisure Fitness, a Newark, Delaware-based specialty fitness retailer with 27 stores along the Eastern coast.
