Genesis Health Clubs has expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of Volleyball Beach, a popular destination for volleyball enthusiasts in Kansas City.
Volleyball Beach offers 14 outdoor sand volleyball courts, eight of which become indoor air-dome courts in the winter for year-round recreational and competitive leagues and tournaments. Located just minutes from downtown Kansas City, Volleyball Beach provides a relaxed and social atmosphere for players of all skill levels and a Beachside Bar and Grille for guests to enjoy between games. Genesis Health Clubs plans to continue offering these services and introduce even more people to the sport of volleyball as a fun way to exercise and stay active throughout the year.
In addition to Volleyball Beach, Genesis Health Clubs is constructing a 70,000-square-foot facility in North Kansas City that also features volleyball. It will include a massive luxury health club, 12 sand volleyball courts, a surfing simulator, large outdoor pool areas, bar and grill and much more.
Genesis has also broken ground on another, soon-to-be-named sand sports and pickleball upscale sports bar in Goddard, Kansas, part of its multimillion-dollar Goddard Sports Complex that also includes a health club, hotel, pre-school, ten turf tournament baseball/softball fields, a competition natatorium, and Blast Off Bay indoor water park.
“Whether it’s health clubs, aquatics or volleyball, it’s all about programming,” said Rodney Steven II, the president and owner of Genesis. “We love what Volleyball Beach has done to grow the sport and leagues in Kansas City, and we can’t wait to continue to grow the sport with this location and our new one in the north.”
Asked if Genesis had any other announcements to make in Kansas City, Steven replied, “I can’t make any announcements just yet, but expect to see more sports-related entertainment and exciting health and fitness news soon. We’re going to be growing in Kansas City for a long time to come.”
