In this video, walk through an Avila Bay Athletic Club & Spa Tour tour led by Nancy Terrell, the club’s general manager.

Nestled in Avila Beach on California’s central coast, the Avila Bay Athletic Club and Spa — a California Athletic Club location — is a full-service retreat that caters to a wide array of fitness and relaxation needs. In this video, Nancy Terrell, the club’s general manager, takes us on a tour to reveal why members find their experience akin to a vacation, surrounded by lush, tropical landscaping.

Adapting to the challenges of COVID, the club embraced outdoor fitness, leveraging the region’s favorable climate to create permanent workout spaces. Members have shown a preference for these open-air settings, complemented by top-tier equipment and expert personal training departments to enhance their exercise routine.

Tennis has seen a surge in popularity at the club, becoming more prominent than ever post-COVID, with the outdoor enthusiasm driving robust youth programs and introducing new offerings like pickleball. The aquatics program thrives with two outdoor pools and Jacuzzis, supporting activities like aqua aerobics and youth swim classes.

The club’s commitment to community and connection is evident in its special events, especially the occasional deck parties featuring live music. The versatile deck, with cozy firepit areas, caters to various gatherings, including weddings.

One of the unique features of the club is its pavilion, a unique structure accommodating both fitness classes and grand events like weddings, thanks to its adaptable indoor-outdoor setting.

Relaxation and recovery are not overlooked, with a far-infrared sauna and traditional dry sauna available to members, as well as full-service childcare, allowing parents to focus on their wellness knowing their children are in professional hands.

The spa is a haven for comprehensive body care, offering services from massages to haircuts. Being part of the California Athletic Clubs has fostered a culture of exceptional customer service at the Avila Bay Athletic Club, with creativity and enjoyment being core values that make the club more than just a fitness facility — it’s a place to rejuvenate and have fun.
