Consumers have a greater focus on their fitness and overall well-being. Because of this, there has been a rise in health and wellness investments. The fitness industry is witnessing remarkable growth and diversification, with several openings and expansions underway across the globe. Below are just three of many examples.

The Bar Method Expands Internationally with New Studios in Japan

The Bar Method, renowned for its high-repetition, low-impact resistance workouts that combine elements of Pilates, yoga and strength training, is expanding its franchise model internationally. Fast Fitness Japan (FFJ), the master franchisee of over 1,000 Anytime Fitness clubs, has acquired the rights to open The Bar Method studios in Japan, with the first locations set to launch in Tokyo by early 2025.

This expansion comes as the boutique fitness industry is projected to reach a global market value of $54.8 billion by 2029. In the U.S., barre workouts have grown significantly, with a 13% increase in participation from 2022 to 2023.

“We’re thrilled to partner with FFJ to bring our scientifically designed workouts to a global audience,” said Stephanie Schon, the president of The Bar Method. Kio Yamabe, CEO of FFJ, expressed enthusiasm about introducing The Bar Method to Japan, aiming to boost fitness participation and promote healthy lifestyles.

JETSET Pilates to Launch in New York City

This summer, fitness enthusiasts in New York City can look forward to the opening of JETSET Pilates SoHo. Spearheaded by renowned fitness instructor and entrepreneur Goli Soli, this new studio promises a modern-Pilates experience that blends strength training, cardio and Pilates-inspired movements.

JETSET Pilates has become an internationally recognized brand known for its unique 50-minute workouts that challenge both mind and body. The studio’s approach includes harmonized playlists and personalized instruction, ensuring each client receives a tailored and effective workout.

Goli Soli, who has been in the fitness industry since 2012, brings her extensive experience to this venture. Recovering from a back injury led her to delve deeper into Pilates and yoga, and now she aims to share these benefits with a broader audience. “Every class is an experience for my clients to feel they can show up as their authentic self and continue to raise the bar for what is possible,” she says.

Amped Fitness Opens New State-of-the-Art Facility in Tallahassee

Amped Fitness is set to revolutionize the fitness landscape in Tallahassee with the grand opening of its new facility on May 30th, 2024. This 35,000 square-foot gym is designed to be more than just a workout space; it aims to become a community hub for health, wellness and personal transformation.

The gym is equipped with top-tier strength and cardio equipment, offers daily group fitness classes led by certified instructors, and features a women’s only workout area. Members can enjoy a variety of classes, including yoga, Zumba and Pilates, as well as 24/7 Fitness On Demand virtual classes. To promote holistic wellness, Amped Fitness provides amenities such as a dry sauna, HydroMassage, tanning beds and a recovery zone for post-workout relaxation.
