Mel Kleist, CEO of East Bank Club in downtown Chicago, sat down with Ralph Rajs to discuss the club’s extensive facilities, renovations and upgrades that have occurred in the last few years.
Spanning 400,000 square feet, East Bank Club offers diverse services. Kleist, with nearly a decade at the club, highlighted their continuous improvement philosophy, supported by in-house engineers. Post-pandemic, they resumed renovations driven by member surveys, focusing on enhancing the member experience over profits.
Significant changes made in the facility include a market for healthy meals, a new salad bar, and expanded fitness facilities designed by architect Rudy Fabiano. They also added workspaces, small group training areas, and advanced recovery equipment, all included in membership dues. They also redesigned cycle studio, with its theater-like setting and movie wall, which has been a hit with members.
Future plans involve revamping locker rooms with amenities like saltwater saunas, infrared heat and a cold room. These initiatives underscore the club’s commitment to providing a top-tier wellness experience. Learn more about the facility’s renovations and upgrades by watching the full video above.
