As AI continues to make waves in various industries, its potential in the fitness world is becoming increasingly clear. Dr. Ted Vickey, the CEO of FitWell, has been exploring how AI can transform fitness operations by improving efficiency and freeing up time for more personalized client interactions.

In a recent discussion with Rachel Chonko, editor-in-chief of Club Solutions, he emphasized that AI, particularly tools like ChatGPT, can handle repetitive, time-consuming tasks, allowing fitness professionals to focus on what matters most: their clients. For example, instead of spending hours developing marketing plans or writing content, AI can generate a three-month marketing plan, create social media posts and even write video scripts. This not only streamlines workflows but also gives fitness professionals more time to invest in the human aspects of their business.

One of the key benefits Vickey pointed out is AI’s ability to assist with brainstorming and content generation. However, he and Chonko warned against simply copying and pasting AI-generated content. Instead, fitness operators should use AI as a starting point, customizing the output to reflect their specific business needs and brand voice. Vickey also highlights the importance of providing AI with detailed, specific inputs to get the best results. The more context the AI is given about the business, the better tailored the outcomes will be.

In his book, “The Fitness Professionals Guide to ChatGPT,” Vickey offers practical guidance on how AI can be a valuable asset to fitness operators. He shares tips on using AI for everything from marketing to administrative duties, offering a roadmap for those looking to integrate AI into their day-to-day operations.

The key takeaway for fitness professionals? Don’t be afraid to experiment with AI.

 It’s a tool that can enhance productivity and creativity, but it works best when used alongside human insight and customization. By embracing AI, fitness operators can stay ahead of the curve and create more personalized, efficient experiences for both their staff and members.
