The Power of Your Club

How has that first week back from Thanksgiving been for you and your members? I’m sure some of your members may have gotten in some hours over the break, but how did you deal with those that didn’t see the inside of your club?

Over the short break, I hit the small “gym” in my parents’ basement for some light cardio, and then knocked out some pushups. It was as simple as that to keep myself feeling good for the large consumption of calories I was introducing to my system.

However, even with the physical activity I tried to throw into my break, it wasn’t anything like my typical workout during the week. That means, Monday hit me pretty hard, but I didn’t really feel it until today. I could easily see how people would fall out of their routine during the holidays — but I could also see why an exercise routine was so important during this time.

As the temperatures drop and the snow starts to fall, my desire to go for a run outside diminishes immensely. Also, I have lost my will to go outside and do pretty much anything. Once we get a pretty good amount of snow, I’ll go to our weak slopes near Kentucky where I live for a little outdoor exercise. But, it’s this time of year that I realize how much I need my gym.

Not only do I need it for physical fitness — but also I need it to get out of the house and out of the office. Yes, going to a club can make you physically healthier, but the effects it has on the mind are phenomenal as well.

In the winter month’s people have a tendency to get a little low. Remind them the power of the fitness club. Turn the music up a little bit louder (but not too much, you don’t want to scare away your older members), put out some really good deals and bring your members in for a tune up. Get them moving in your club and help them get out of the dreary mood they may be in.

I’m sure you realize the power your club — in all its glory — has over people. You are a place to socialize, relax, get fit and eat nutritious. Be that one place this winter that your members can rely on to completely change their outlook on life!
