The Swine Flu or H1N1 has stirred up a scare around the U.S. since the early months of 2009. Recently, the majority of stories have sprung from universities and college campuses due to an influx of massive personal interaction. A lot of colleges are reporting that the biggest problem comes from students being in close environments such as their living quarters, classrooms and parties. However, club owners shouldn’t read those stories and simply push them to the side – clubs make their money by bringing people together, just like colleges. Every day in clubs, people are sweating onto machines and breathing heavily near other people – locker rooms could be littered with infections. Take a look at a couple of tips below that could help keep your club disease free.
- Have employees constantly go around and sanitize workout areas.
- Try and leave sanitizing wipes near workout areas with notes that ask members to clean up after they are done.
- Put hand sanitizer EVERY WHERE in your club.
- Make sure employees use hand sanitizer and wash their hands often.
- Pay attention to employees. If they start getting sick, politely ask them to take a couple of days off.
Some of these solutions may seem extreme. However, it’s more important to be cautious than to not take something serious that could potentially have a negative effect on business. Also, as a reminder, the first wave of H1N1 vaccines should be available by Tuesday. They will first launch the nose spray with injections to follow soon.
