Dropping over 100 pounds and choosing to make the lifelong commitment to fitness, Akron resident, Tony Tsarouhas, has been awarded as the 2009 Life Fitness I Live It! winner and will receive $6,000 worth of exercise equipment for his home.
Taking several medications a day to control his high blood pressure and cholesterol, and topping the scale at 300 pounds, Tsarouhas’s wife, Linda, suggested that he start looking into a life insurance policy for the sake of his family. The Akron resident and father of two, knew he needed to make some serious life changes if he was going to be around to see his two young children grow up.
“The prospect of purchasing life insurance was a dreadful thought for me. I decided that rather than pay for life insurance, I should invest in fitness equipment and improve my life expectancy rather than count on a shorter one,” Tsarouhas said.
Instead of investing in a life insurance policy, Tsarouhas went to his local Life Fitness retailer to invest in something that would actually help him live a healthier life. He purchased a Life Fitness Elliptical Cross-Trainer and pledged to use it every single day. After combining a balanced diet with a regular exercise program, Tsarouhas dropped 100 pounds in less than a year and watched his health dramatically change for the better.
“My Cross-Trainer has changed my life. It’s been nearly two years and I have maintained my current weight,” Tsarouhas said. “More importantly, my doctor instructed me to discontinue my blood pressure and cholesterol medications. I can run and play with my children, and my wife has the man she married back.”
“Tony’s story is an inspirational reminder of the power of fitness in helping people live life to the fullest,” said Brent Hutton, vice president of consumer sales for Life Fitness. “We’re proud to be a part of his success, but the credit is truly owed to him for doing all of the work.”
The I Live It! campaign celebrates individuals who demonstrate a commitment to lifelong health and well-being.
