Recently Life Time Fitness, Inc. made the acquisition of Racquet Club of the South (RCS) in Atlanta, Ga. The club is part of a vast expansion of tennis within Life Time Fitness clubs. The company now boasts 158 tennis courts across 16 locations in seven states.
RCS will be renamed Life Time Fitness Atlanta, and will be the “company’s southeast hub for junior tennis champion training, coaching and development; tournaments, recreational play and instruction,” said Jason Thunstrom, a media relations specialist for Life Time Fitness.
“At Life Time it is our goal to connect members to their areas of passion, whether it be tennis, basketball, yoga, Pilates, swimming, rock climbing, running, cycling, triathlon or many others,” said Thunstrom. “Tennis is a large and growing member interest area for us and, therefore, our continued investment in the sport. We aim to deliver the best-in-class tennis courts, programming, instruction, tournaments and junior development programs available nationwide.”
Life Time plans to begin an extensive renovation this year that will allow for additional features and amenities including a remodeling the exterior, lobby and locker rooms, fitness center, massage facilities, club house and a stadium court capable of hosting over 4,000 spectators, said Thunstrom. With the acquisition, Life Time is now the largest national operator of indoor tennis courts.
