Chelsea, a neighborhood in New York City, has become the latest area to boast a Crunch Fitness facility. The new club opened its doors on November 9, 2012, in the U.S. headquarters of Diesel, an international fashion brand. The Chelsea location is the third Crunch Fitness to open in New York City this year.
With the addition of the Chelsea facility, Crunch now has 12 locations in New York City. In fact, the Big Apple is where Crunch was founded. “Crunch was born in NYC… which is where the heart and soul of our brand lies,” said Keith Worts, the president of Crunch Fitness. “Crunch has a deep-rooted attachment to New Yorkers and [we] understand the way they think.”
New York is a competitive environment for the fitness industry — New Yorkers can choose from almost any fitness brand, big or small. According to Worts, Crunch Fitness differentiates itself by offering its members the best fitness classes, top personal training and a high-energy experience. “Also, finding the right location at the right price is always a challenge, given the NYC competitive real estate landscape — we always look to ensure that the locations we choose allow us to create an unparalleled gym experience for our members, and those types of spots don’t grow on trees.”
According to Worts, New York City residents can expect Crunch to continue its expansion within the city’s borders. “We are continuing to look to open locations in new neighborhoods, to make sure all New Yorkers have access to a Crunch,” said Worts. “We are also continuing to grow in the outer Boroughs and as new neighborhoods emerge we will continue to be front and center.”
