Platinum Fitness, a club in Verona, N.J., has had great success as a result of a partnership with TRX®. After purchasing one 20-foot frame and 10 suspension trainers from TRX, the club put its trainers through an exclusive Suspension Training® Course (STC), which taught their trainers the fundamentals of TRX Suspension Training bodyweight exercises and how to incorporate them into personal training.

From there, Platinum Fitness invested in TRX’s TEAM, a full-scale solution for developing a winning small group training business, based on building a progressive, results-oriented program in which your members become invested in their success as a team.

Platinum Fitness now currently runs one-hour TRX Suspension Training classes on a daily basis, as well as small group training and one-on-one TRX sessions for members that want it. TRX, classes and all, has been so well received, that Platinum purchased an additional 20-foot frame and 10 more suspension trainers for the club.

Phil Strohmeyer, the fitness director of Platinum Fitness, discussed how offering TRX has affected his facility and its members.

Q: Why did you choose TRX?

A: We choose TRX because we had used their straps in our small, personal training rooms. When we expanded our personal training, we needed multi-functioning equipment that did not take up a lot of space. I have 30 plus trainers and most of them see multiple clients at one time, so space is always at a premium.

Q: How did you implement TRX?

A: We implemented TRX by advertising the features of a TRX workout, as well as letting all members try a TRX class for free. With everything we do, the main purpose is to drive revenue. We have two 20-foot “S” frames and they are constantly in use with both small group classes and one-on-one clients.

Q: What impressed you about TRX?

A: The thing that impressed me most about TRX is their customer service. From our regional salesman, Jim Russo, to our account representative in San Francisco, Nick Vay, all the way up to Noah Rolland. They are always just a phone call away and always willing to help me out.

Q: What is the biggest benefit to offering TRX?

A: The biggest benefit in regards to working with TRX is their knowledge that it is not just about selling gym equipment. They understand how much education needs to go behind the equipment to make the venture successful. We have invested a lot of time and money into educating our trainers on correct use and how to teach a class purely based on the TRX. They have helped me understand how to manage the revenue. Finally, they have helped my sales team understand how to sell the benefits of the TRX. TRX has allowed us to raise revenue.
