Picture 1World Gym announced that it will open two franchise locations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in September, 2013. Both locations were previously independent fitness centers that will reopen as World Gym clubs. The two clubs will be the first World Gyms to open in Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Badr Al-Shibani is the franchisee of the new locations, who decided to convert his independent clubs to the iconic brand. “I am dedicated to providing the ultimate, non-intimidating fitness experience to the people of Saudi Arabia,” said Al-Shibani, in a statement. “I want to help people cultivate a healthy lifestyle, to feel important and enjoy their daily workout so they will be motivated to come to the gym. I made the decision to convert both locations to World Gym because it is a highly respected, world-renowned brand that will help me reach these objectives.”

Jeddah residents will enjoy an array of amenities typical to a World Gym facility, including top-of-the-line equipment from Technogym, gym80 and Freemotion Fitness, group exercise classes, a steam room and sauna, personal training, a smoothie bar and more.

“The conversion of both facilities to World Gym in Saudi Arabia is a very exciting development for us,” said Karin Michael, the director of franchise relations for World Gym International, in a statement. “Dr. Al-Shibani has built wonderful fitness centers and we are convinced that converting them to World Gym will help him take them to the next level and achieve his goals. Dr. Al Shibani is providing to the increased fitness participation levels in Saudi Arabia, his visionary approach in providing effective health and wellness solutions in the Kingdom has proven very successful. World Gym intends to fully support his initiative.”

This isn’t World Gym’s first foray overseas. World Gyms can be found in 13 countries outside of the U.S., including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, India, Russia and Taiwan.
