Genesis Health Club’s newest club is scheduled to open in McPherson, Kan., in November 2013. Rodney Steven, the owner of Genesis Athletic Clubs, purchased the McPherson Athletic Club in December 2012, where members are currently working out, while the construction of the new building nearby is in progress. Once completed, members will transfer from the McPherson Athletic Club to Genesis’ newest construction.
Rodney Steven, the owner of Genesis Health Clubs, recently spoke with Club Solutions about the new location.
CS: What are your thoughts on the new location?
RS: I’m extremely excited to branch our brand out to a new city in Kansas. Now with 12 locations in the state, we are touching more people’s lives and helping Kansas towards a healthier population!
CS: What can members of the new location look forward to?
RS: We purchased an existing gym in McPherson and have been using it as a temporary facility during our construction of the building we bought to house the new club. The members will have an entirely different experience at the new club, as it will be a huge upgrade for them. The new club will have all the same amenities as our other locations including steam rooms, group fitness studios, state-of-the-art cardio and weight training areas, as well as all the finishings that go into making our clubs premier.
CS: Is the new location any different from other Genesis locations?
RS: It will be very similar to other locations. Each time we open a new club our buildings get fine-tuned and they get nicer and nicer.
CS: Why did Genesis want to open a club in that area? Why did you think it would be a good fit?
RS: McPherson is twenty miles each direction (north and southwest) to towns where we have existing clubs. Since we have clubs so close, we recognized that McPherson was underserved and would be a great area to expand our brand to. We also had several requests from members who were traveling a distance to work out in our other locations.
CS: Is Genesis looking to continue expanding? If so, in any particular areas?
RS: We are! We look forward to some exciting announcements soon.
