As I discussed a few weeks ago, the Club Solutions team is participating in “The Fittest Gladiator Challenge,” a distance challenge that we are tracking with Fitbits and NetpulseOne.
The purpose of the challenge is to encourage us to log more miles inside and outside the gym. Whoever logs the most miles at the end of the four weeks will receive a prize, don the shield and chest plate seen in the photo, and be named “The Fittest Gladiator.”
So far, the challenge has fulfilled its purpose. Not only am I taking more steps throughout the day, I’ve visited the gym more times in the past two weeks than I would have during a normal week a month ago. In fact, the first week I logged almost 20 miles. The next week, I logged almost 30! As a result of the challenge, I’ve found myself extremely motivated to visit the gym more often, and be more active overall. My teammates feel the same way.
We decided to pair our Fitbits with NetpulseOne (Fitbits link to it), because Netpulse has a few capabilities the Fitbits do not. For example, if you complete an activity on a piece of equipment that the Fitbit didn’t track, you can snap a photo with the NetpulseOne app, and it will log the activity for you. Additionally, NetpulseOne shows use who is winning for the month, while Fitbit shows who is winning for the current week alone.
It’s also great for those who have other fitness trackers, as NetpulseOne syncs with MapMyFitness, Runkeeper, Up by Jawbone and more.
I asked a few weeks ago: Will my gym activity go up as a result of the challenge? Will I see more results?
So far, the answer to the first question is “yes.” I’ll let you know the answer to the second question at the end of the challenge! Then, I’ll discuss how you could use fitness devices to encourage members to have the same results.
