Planet Fitness Midwest (PFMW) is building 11 new clubs in the St. Louis area. It announced development is underway for a new location in Ferguson, Missouri, in the Ferguson North County Festival Mall.
According to PFMW, the goal of the project is “helping to revitalize Ferguson.” The projected completion date is summer 2015. The club will bring 50 new jobs during the multi-million dollar construction phase. Afterwards the company will look to employ approximately 15 new jobs from the local Ferguson labor pool to operate the club.
“We’re thrilled at the chance to be a part of this revitalization,” said John Clancy, a managing partner of PFMW. “We believe in the community and its people and look forward to being in business in Ferguson.”
With Ferguson’s new club, Planet Fitness continues its expansion throughout the Midwest. Planet Fitness has over 900 locations nationwide and over 5 million members.
