9Round recently opened its first club in Australia. The new club is the first of more than 100 the company plans to open throughout Australia over the next five years.
A second location is slated to open sometime in June.
“The fitness industry in Australia has expanded significantly over the past few years, with several fitness chains securing a key market foothold across the country,” said 9Round co-founder and CEO Shannon Hudson, in a press release. “We are confident that our unique fitness proposition will be a welcomed addition to the fitness landscape and will no doubt catapult and keep us atop the market.”
9Round was founded by Hudson in 2008 and now has more than 200 gyms open in 36 states and four countries.
Taking its cue from boxing and kickboxing, 9Round moves members through nine, three-minute stations of activities that include cardio, weight training, abdominal exercises and kicks and punches. Trainers are always on site and as routines change daily, members receive a fresh workout every time they come in.
Recently 9Round was named one of “America’s Most Promising Companies” by Forbes Magazine. At number 99, 9Round is the only fitness concept listed in the 2015 ranking.
